Preview a great film and help seniors and shut-ins across South Siskiyou! Join us at one of two fundraising events; on August 29 at the Shasta Yoga Center in Mt. Shasta, or on Sept. 5 at the McCloud Mercantile in McCloud for a preview screening of FLOW (For the Love Of Water), Irena Salina's award-winning documentary investigation into what experts label the most important political and environmental issue of the 21st Century - The World Water
Crisis.

FLOW will be released in New York on September 21 and is scheduled to show at the 2008 Sundance, Mumbai, Flagstaff Mountain and Vail International Film Festivals. This is a preview screening for review purposes. Your comments will be requested for use in a review in the Mount Shasta Magazine on line and in print.

Citizens for McCloud’s Fire Hall Project- Renovation, Fundraiser & Auction
Date:  Sept. 5, 6, and 7 AND Sept. 12, 13 and 14
Where: McCloud Fire Hall

The McCloud Fire Hall Project is a community-based effort led by Claudia and Jim Ellis to bring residents together in the common interest of renovating the old Fire Hall and supporting McCloud’s volunteer fire department. The project is designed to raise funds for needed renovation, bring in the community to help pay for supplies, do the actual work, then hold a dinner and auction and the end of the project.

The weekend of Sept. 5-7 is to prepare the hall for painting by power washing, scraping paint and doing repairs. The following weekend of Sept. 12-14 will be spent painting the hall and finishing minor repairs.

On Sunday Sept. 14, there will be closing fundraiser Dinner buffet and auction held at the McCloud Golf Course at 7 p.m.. Tickets for the dinner are $15, available for purchase at the Brown Dog Gallery, McCloud General store and McCloud Mercantile.

Mountain Music Festival

The Annual Mountain Music Festival is held at Friday’s RV Campground & Fishing Resort, located on Squaw Valley Road, 6 miles from McCloud. An evening of music, food & drinks in a great outdoor setting lies in store! Tents RVs are welcome; make your reservations by calling 530-964-2878.

Geo-Hydro-Ecology of Mount Shasta

Where: Weed Mercantile, McCloud Mercantile & Brown Trout in Dunsmuir
To share information about Mt. Shasta's unique watersheds, CalTrout is coordinating a series of community watershed awareness meetings with local experts from River Exchange, US Forest service, Aquaterra, UC-Davis, and Shasta Valley RCD. The collaborative presentations will be held from 6-8pm on Sept. 23 at the Weed Mercantile, Oct. 1 at the McCloud Mercantile, and Oct. 2 at the Brown Trout in Dunsmuir.  Call CalTrout at 530-926-3755 for more information.
